Introducing Next Phase: Food Hall and Market Experts Launch New Style of Operations-led Consultancy

Today marks the official launch of Next Phase, a pioneering consultancy launched to redefine the property landscape by introducing creative and exciting solutions to new projects and bringing new life to vacant and underperforming properties to transform local communities.

Co-founded by food hall, competitive socialising, and regeneration pioneers Simon Anderson, Hayden Ferriby, and Emma Forbes, Next Phase aims to revitalise spaces with a fusion of food halls, competitive socialising, co-working spaces, third-space activities, and initiatives within the creative industries.

The first of its kind in the UK, Next Phase is an operations-led consultancy based on real-world experience from proven operators. This unique blend of expertise from the founders, encompassing comprehensive operational experience across various sectors, positions Next Phase as a versatile and dynamic consultancy.

Simon Anderson, food hall and hospitality consultant and visionary former Chief Operations and Creative Officer at Market Halls in London, who advised on the $5bn Msheireb Downtown project in Doha and more recently with revolutionary food business Sessions, who own Shelter Hall in Brighton, said: "Many consultants are advising on food halls, but very few have ever operated one or fully understand all the requirements necessary to make them successful."

“Unlike others who know how it should work on paper, our team know how it works on the ground and how to consistently offer quality and value that matches the investment in the property.”

Hayden Ferriby has spent the last 20 years working in retail, leisure and hospitality as a consultancy and operator, including being a director for the likes of Market Asset Management, one of the UK’s largest market and food hall operators managing multiple market and food hall sites including award-winning Doncaster Markets and community hub focused Crewe Market Hall.

Hayden said: “Our approach is holistic and innovative, focusing not just on food halls but on the entire spectrum of property utilisation. We're here to offer creative solutions that meet the evolving needs of today's urban spaces. Our size and flexibility as a team allow us to quickly adapt and respond to the unique challenges and opportunities of each project, ensuring we deliver targeted and effective strategies for our clients."

Next Phase is adept at catering to a wide range of projects and clients, offering personalised service and tailored strategies that larger firms may not provide. This agility ensures that Next Phase remains at the cutting edge of industry trends and developments, offering clients innovative solutions that are both practical and inspiring.

A point backed up by the company’s third director and commercial expert, Emma Forbes, who said: “We're excited to contribute to the transformation of urban spaces, introducing concepts that engage communities, enhance property value, and foster social and economic growth. High streets, town centres and shopping centres are quickly evolving. In a world where traditional retail faces decline, we've founded Next Phase to breathe life into a variety of spaces backed up by real insights, innovation, and commercial success.”

Since launching, the consultancy is already working with a number of leading property developers, multi-disciplinary consultants, and investment companies on a range of varied property types.
